Nursing homes are places were family and loved ones go to receive the care they need. Nursing homes are places where trust is expected and there is an expectation of health and happiness for the patient. It is heartbreaking when this trust is broken and nursing home abuse occurs. Nursing home abuse can happen in many ways and a simple fall is a common example of abuse. Kentucky nursing home patients may face the same type of abuse as alleged in a Mississippi nursing home.

A former employee of the nursing home told her story about the abuse she witnessed while working at the nursing home. The type abuse she witnessed is not specific to the particular nursing home and could certainly occur in Kentucky-based nursing homes.

The employee witnessed a patient fall out of his wheelchair. Then, an aid pulled the patient's shirt over his head, and during this, the patient's head clearly hit the floor. The employee reported this patient fall to her supervisors, but corrective action was not taken. Another patient was in the nursing home solely because he could not walk. The patient had fallen out of the home's bed and family members often found the nursing home staff sleeping in the waiting room.

Nursing home abuse can happen quickly and can drastically impact a patient's well-being, especially if the patient is elderly. Patient fall injuries need to be investigated to ensure the continued health of the patient and ensure the incident does not reoccur. If you have a family member who is a victim of nursing home abuse, a knowledgeable attorney can assist in finding a beneficial outcome to remedy the abuse.
